Product FAQ

Who is making the ultimate trading decisions?

The Responsible Entity has appointed Trading Pursuits Investment Services Pty Ltd ('TPIS') as the professional investment manager for Spectrum Live™ Portfolio Select® Income and Cash portfolios.

How often will statements be provided to investors?

Statements of unitholding valuations will be emailed to investors on a monthly basis. They will be distributed to investors who have opened and funded their investments and meet the minimum funding requirements according to the portfolio(s) the investor has invested in.

How do I invest or redeem funds from my investment?

Funding an investment is via BPay, EFT or Swift.

You will receive funding instructions by email during the investment setup process.

If your investment is already active, you can also log in to the Investor Centre to view the funding instructions.

You can submit a redemption request after you log in to the portal. Please call our Customer service team on 1300 913 937 if you need help.

Is there a minimum investment balance or even a maximum investment balance?

Each portfolio has its own minimum balance requirements as described in the relevant portfolio Supplementary Product Disclosure Statement (SPDS). Apply for this using the form on the right of this page. There is no maximum balance applicable. It is recommended that investors consult with their financial advisor and/or accountant regarding their proposed allocation amounts.

What trading strategies and instruments will be used to trade the portfolios. Shares, options, covered calls... etc?

Each portfolio’s strategy varies and you should review the associated Supplementary Product Disclosure Statement (SPDS) regarding the investment mandate and proposed investment instruments for each strategy portfolio.

Will each member have their own individual money traded or will the scheme's assets be pooled and traded jointly?

Investor funds are pooled in each portfolio. This provides investors with an opportunity to gain exposure to an existing investment portfolio. This is achieved via issuing an allocation of units in the portfolio according to the amount of capital the investor invests.

Through the Portfolio Select® Portal you can view a representative snapshot of how your investment has been allocated within each of the portfolios. As a result, you may see some ‘representative’ fractional holdings of certain investment instruments. This is simply a mathematical estimate of your ‘share’ of the pooled investment holdings depending on how many units you have been issued.

If the associated portfolio's value rises, the investor’s unit price should rise proportionately, less fees. Conversely, if the associated portfolio’s value falls, the investor’s unit price will fall.

Will the managed investment scheme use the money management principles that are taught as part of Trading Pursuits training courses?

Each portfolio has a trading mandate designed to achieve the investment objectives and goals of the portfolio. Risk management is at the heart of each portfolio’s investment objectives, but the risk/return profile will vary for different portfolios.

For example, the active Income Portfolio has a much higher risk/return appetite than the relatively passive Cash Portfolio. Each portfolio mandate addresses risk management principles and strategies that are appropriate to the risk appetite of the portfolio, and many of these techniques reflect those taught at the Trading Pursuits training courses. However, as a product being managed by professional fund managers, the trading and risk management principles employed in these portfolios may use a level of sophistication which goes beyond the scope of the Trading Pursuits training courses.

Will all profits be automatically reinvested back into the portfolios?

Yes

What charges will be associated with the product? Are they tax deductable for individual, sole traders and or corporations?

Each portfolio has its own associated fee schedule. Please refer to the specific portfolio Supplementary Product Disclosure Statement (SPDS) for further information on fees and expenses. All the profits, less applicable fees are distributed the investors according to their unit holding.

Can I deposit money into a Spectrum Live Portfolio Select® investment then attend the course when there is enough profit generated to pay for the course?

No. SLCM partners with Trading Pursuits Pty Ltd to educate potential investors on the trading strategies it bases its portfolio strategies on. SLCM has a process in place to ensure that each investor has an adequate understanding of the types of trading techniques, instruments, risks and risk management of the portfolio mandates, and the Responsible Entity reserves the right to deny issuance of units to any investor who is not deemed suited to the product.

Do I HAVE TO attend a live Trading Pursuits educational course in order to invest in Spectrum Live Portfolio Select®?

No. The minimum requirement, however, is that every investor must purchase the relevant course from Trading Pursuits and complete its associated online educational question and answer video series. To be eligible to invest with SLCM, the investor must pass the question and answer series.

How will SLCM deal with and protect my private information?

SLCM abides by the National Privacy Principles established under the Privacy Amendment (Private Sector) Act 2001. Investors can review SLCM’s Privacy Policy published on its website http://www.slcm.com.au/privacy-policy
